A non-profit trekking company located in Nicaragua was in need of a brand and identity refresh to build consistency and give personality true to the spirit of the ten years and growing mission "Hike Volcanoes. Help Kids."
My goal was to bring out the lively character of this non-profit. Volunteer-run and located in energetic Leon, Nicaragua there was a lot of passion and fun that needed to be represented.
For the primary logo, the client wanted to stay with the original logo design. Since the volcanoes of the region are such a crucial aspect of the mission, it made sense to keep them. So I renewed it to look more modern with a clean silhouette and updated typeface.
The pattern and volcano icon were created to bring to life the fun and playful personality of Quetzaltrekkers.
The brand color palette was inspired by the Quetzal bird indigenous to Central America and the national bird of Guatemala –where the organization began in Xela.
The secondary logo needed to offer versatility for those small application areas. By framing the most iconic volcano of the region, Momotombo with the Q, this was achieved.
